Photo description
A robust shut-off valve forms a small but indispensable part of the extensive pipeline network in the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord. This handwheel was used to regulate the flow of gases, steam, or water required for the blast furnace production process. The weathered metal parts contrast with the brick factory hall in the background and show how even the smallest technical details played an important role in the steel industry. Today, these objects serve as a reminder of the craftsmanship and engineering of an industrial past.
