The climb to the blast furnace

This inclined conveyor with a robust skip played an essential role in the production process of the former blast furnaces in the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord. The ore wagon transported iron ore, coke, and limestone to the top of the blast furnace, where the raw materials were processed into pig iron. The impressive steel structure, heavy guides, and technical details show how ingenious and large-scale the steel industry in the Ruhr area once was. Today, this installation serves as a tangible reminder of the industrial past.
