Photo description

A spectacled penguin lies relaxed in the shade among the rocks of Boulders Beach, one of the most famous places in South Africa to admire this special bird species up close. With its beak open, the penguin appears to be cooling off on a hot day. The African penguin is an endangered species and lives in a limited number of colonies along the South African coast, of which Boulders Beach is the best known.
